24: Audrey Kicks the Blogging Bucket

By Dave Murphy - TVFanblogger

Jack Bauer gets angry, but he can usually keep his cool. Normally it takes family betrayal to get him to the point where he will do something as rash as torturing his brother or driving a knife through someone's leg.

As we found out last night, however, the key to Jack's heart lies in the soul of Audrey. For those not familiar with 24, Audrey was Jack's major love interest last season. Toward the end of last night's episode, Audrey supposedly died in a car accident between seasons five and six while trying to rescue Jack from a Chinese prison.

Despite the fact that the United States was on the brink of the day's second nuclear attack, the death of his lost love seemed to bother him more than anything else. After hearing the news, Jack angrily paces the hallways of CTU blaming Chloe and Buchanan for keeping him in the dark on the car accident.

During the assault on the drone pilots, Bauer takes the lead position vowing to make sure Audrey did not die in vein. He wants to stop the terrorists as quickly as possible in order to devote the rest of his time finding and killing those who took Audrey's life.

Jack refuses to believe Audrey's death in China was a coincidence. Anyone who is a fan of 24 shouldn't either. With all the unexpected twists the show delivers, it should be expected that there is more to the death of Audrey than we know now.

Most bloggers on Fox's 24 website have already chimed in with their opinions about Audrey. Needless to say, there are only two bloggers who actually believe she's dead. Everyone is crying for there to be some sort of DNA evidence to prove that she actually died in the accident.

Bloggers must admit that the file is very convincing. The government put together a nice photocopy of her burned passport and a photo of her burned remains on the side of the road. There was enough in that packet for Jack to utter another one of his famous, "Damnits!"*

In all likelihood, she's not dead. I expect to find in coming weeks that Audrey was secretly in love with Logan, was spying for the Chinese government, and is really a man! Obviously I'm kidding**. But in my course of 24 watching I've come to realize that trying to predict anything on this show is a fatal mistake. Well, okay, it's not fatal.

It's funny reading the blogs and looking at how seriously everyone is taking Audrey's death. The pro-Audrey death caucus vehemently rejects claims Audrey is still alive. Some even used ALL CAPS to say she is "D-E-A-D." Some even went the extra mile to use multiple exclamation points. Whoa! Watch out!

It's only a matter of time before bloggers run to their TiVos and check scenes frame by frame to make sure the claims they are making are accurate.

Even though I feel a lot of these people take their blogging way too seriously, it's nice to see people get excited about television.

Though many fans need to get over the fact that 24 is not real, I'll admit their passion is commendable. Without that passion, people probably wouldn't be reading this.

So bloggers, keep coming up with those whacky screen names and zany predictions. They sure make me laugh.

And from me, JacKBaUERisAWESOME24: Super show ;-) lol, Audrey is totally NOT DEAD!!!!!!!!! L8r.

*I don't actually remember if Jack did say "damnit" after finding out about Audrey's death, but since he says it so "damn" often it wouldn't surprise me.

**Though it would be kind of funny.

SoundOff to MediaVillage about 24.
