What a cruel and unfortunate showcase for the talents of James Earl Jones and Leslie Uggams! "On Golden Pond" was more difficult to watch on Broadway than the film that served as
a final resting place for Henry Fonda and Katherine Hepburn and that offered Jane Fonda an opportunity to immortalize her father's cold-hearted dislike for her. It's even more difficult to watch Jones and Uggams portray WASPs who, by their own admission in this ill-fated play, do
not belong in Maine, where "On Golden Pond" unfolds. Nor do they belong on Broadway.
