Kids' Choice Awards (Nickelodeon, 8 p.m. ET)
Live. Ninety Minutes. Ben Stiller hosts the 18th annual Kids' Choice Awards, in which the young viewers of Nickelodeon
name their favorite actors, musicians, athletes, movies, books, etc. Will Smith and Simple Plan are among the performers.
Out of the Woods (Hallmark Channel, 8 p.m. ET)
Premiere. Ed Asner stars as an eccentric senior citizen enjoying a life of isolation in a remote wooded area until his
daughter and his attorney grandson set out to gain control of the family finances. This being a Hallmark Channel movie, the resulting conflict changes everyone's life for the better. Mel Harris and
Jason London co-star.
The Alan Partridge Experience (BBC America, 11 p.m. ET)
U.S. Premiere. BBC America has cobbled together two short run series and one special starring fictional television and radio
host Alan Partridge into one new Saturday night franchise. As seen throughout these programs, the career of the disaster prone Partridge is perpetually compromised by a series of unfortunate events, including the
time he accidentally shoots one of his guests during one of his live television talk shows. Steve Coogan stars. The first season of "I'm Alan Partridge" (which is actually the second Partridge series) won two BAFTA awards, for
Best Comedy Series and Best Comedy Performance.
SUNDAY, APRIL 3
14 Hours (TNT, 8 p.m. ET)
Premiere. The Herculean efforts of ordinary citizens, municipal workers and the staffers at Houston's Memorial Hermann
Hospital during the June 2001 tropical storm that ravaged the city are depicted in this fact-based drama. Tropical Storm Allison flooded the city with approximately 30 inches of rain in 14 hours, injuring
hundreds and causing a blackout at the hospital. "14 Hours" is a Johnson & Johnson Spotlight Presentation and, as such,
should be considered a family friendly viewing option. Rick Schroder, JoBeth Williams and Kris Kristofferson star.
Desperate Housewives (ABC, 9 p.m. ET)
The meddlesome Mama Solis awakens from her coma, causing potential renewed stress for daughter-in-law Gabrielle, not to mention Bree, whose troubled teenage son accidentally ran the old woman
down several months ago, shortly after Mama discovered that Gabrielle was having an affair with the Solis' teenage
gardener. Meantime Lynette makes a new friend (guest star Marlee Matlin).
Shameless (BBC America, 10 p.m. ET)
U.S. Premiere. This dark comedy-drama about a self-pitying single parent who spends his days drinking and largely ignoring his six
young kids after his wife abandons them all sounds like a drag, but give it a chance. It's unlike anything else on television and almost instantly addictive, even without all the graphic sex and nudity. Indeed, the
exploits of the Gallagher family and their Internet-porn producing neighbors would be right at home on HBO.
Grey's Anatomy (ABC, 10:02 p.m. ET)
ABC, now officially this season's House of Hits, enjoyed another triumph last Sunday with the premiere of this drama about young interns at a Seattle hospital. It was the second highest rated drama
premiere of the season among the 18-49 demographic, topped only by the historic debut last fall of "Desperate Housewives." Tonight, Meredith (the appealing Ellen Pompeo) tries to save a newborn and the
interns care for a woman who was brutally assaulted.
MONDAY, APRIL 4
Krypto the Superdog (Cartoon Network, 9 a.m. ET)
Series Premiere. Following his recent appearance on The WB's "Smallville," Superboy's legendary canine companion is
re-imagined once again in this new animated series. Sent into space as a test-pilot puppy by Superman's father, Krypto accidentally ends up on earth, where he teams up with other super-powered critters, including
Batman's dog Ace, the Bat Hound. Their nemeses include Lex Luthor's iguana, Catwoman's kitty and the Joker's hyenas.
Two and a Half Men (CBS, 8 p.m. ET)
Guest star alert! CBS repeats two episodes from the first season of its highest-rated comedy series, one with Teri
Hatcher (before she became the most popular woman on prime time television as the star of "Desperate Housewives") and the
other with Heather Locklear. Enuf said!
Behind the Cameras: The Unauthorized Story of 'Mork & Mindy' (NBC, 9 p.m. ET)
Premiere. Unknown actor Chris Diamantopoulos has the unenviable task of portraying the singularly unique superstar Robin
Williams in a drama about the triumph and turmoil behind the scenes of the classic comedy "Mork & Mindy," which launched Williams' career. Erin Hayes plays Pam Dawber, the actress who portrayed Mindy, and
Daniel Roebuck co-stars as legendary movie and sitcom producer Garry Marshall. Lovable alien Mork from Ork was first introduced in an episode of "Happy Days" and proved so popular that ABC and
Marshall immediately created "Mork & Mindy." Almost 30 years have passed since that time and we're still wondering -- what were
Marshall and his colleagues thinking when they decided to introduce an alien on the nostalgic comedy "Happy Days"?
24 (Fox, 9 p.m. ET)
Something really big is going to happen in this episode. We know this because Fox last week sent out a special press release
saying that it would "leave viewers gasping and is certain to be the most talked-about hour in the show's four seasons." Considering everything we've seen on "24" since its inception, including the detonation of a
nuclear bomb in the Midwest, the rape and brutal murder of Jack Bauer's pregnant wife and the brief death of Jack himself after extended torture, we can't imagine what's coming next, but we have the sneaking
suspicion that it has something to do with the new president. Fox is so stoked over this episode that it has scheduled two repeats, one on
Friday April 8 at 9 p.m. ET, the other on Sunday, April 10 at 9 p.m. ET.
TUESDAY, APRIL 5
Dog the Bounty Hunter (A&E, 9 p.m. ET)
Season Premiere. Season No. 2 for Dog and
his family begins with Mr. Chapman and company trying to apprehend a fugitive by tricking him into believing that he has won a
prize and plotting to nab him when he tries to collect.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (NBC, 10 p.m. ET)
Two very different sides of the same story are presented in this standout repeat about a female graduate student who claims she
was raped by a charming college professor, who denies her accusation and claims they engaged in consensual sex. When this episode first aired on Nov. 23, 2004, the story was left unresolved, with viewers asked to
log on to nbc.com and choose if the professor was guilty or innocent, or if more information was needed to make a decision. The majority of those who responded felt that the man had not raped the
woman. If you missed it the first time, tune in and decide for yourself, because it's one of the best "SVU" stories of the season. Billy
Campbell, Mariette Hartley and Judith Light guest star.
Knievel's Wild Ride (A&E, 10 p.m. ET)
Series Premiere. Like father, like son. Kaptain Robbie Knievel, son of legendary daredevil Evel Knievel, with whom
he shares a contentious relationship, travels the country preparing for one dangerous jump after another in this new reality series.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6
Lost (ABC, 8 p.m. ET)
Is this the end of Boone? We know one major character is going to die before the current season ends, and he sure
seems to be in rough shape after that calamitous accident in the last episode. And talk about stress: As good doctor Jack struggles to save Boone's life Claire suddenly goes into labor!
The West Wing (NBC, 9 p.m. ET)
Season Finale. The three-way battle between Representative Matt Santos, Vice President Bob Russell and former vice president John Hoynes for their party's nomination comes to a head at the Democratic convention
as the sixth season ends, leaving viewers wondering who will win the presidential election next season and how the show will survive with an ever-expanding cast and a reduced license fee. We're just
glad it's coming back, because "West Wing" this past year, with its sprawling cast, multiple storylines and significant
narrative changes for almost all of its characters, has been unexpectedly engrossing.
Meet the Barkers (MTV, 10 p.m. ET)
Series Premiere. Undaunted by the departure from its schedule of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, Nick Lachey and Jessica
Simpson and Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro, MTV has trained its cameras on yet another married couple: Travis Barker of Blink 182 and his wife, former Miss USA Shanna Moakler. As with most of these
shows, the story begins with the Barkers settling into a new mansion, adding a new level of stress to already harried lives. "Meet the Barkers" promises unflinching intimacy: Clips from the first episode
presented at the Winter Television Critics Association Tour in January included a scene in which Travis awakens the morning after a
party with a titanic hangover and barely makes it to the bathroom before vomiting.
THURSDAY, APRIL 7
They Started on Soaps 4 (SoapNet, 11 p.m. ET)
Premiere. Remember Teri Hatcher as a scheming social climber on the short-lived serial "Capitol"? She's one of the many red-hot television and movie stars seen in clips from their early work on soap
operas in the fourth edition of this recurring SoapNet franchise. Watch for clips featuring Mel Gibson, Nicollette Sheridan, Eva
Longoria, Marcia Cross, Jude Law, Russell Crowe, Tobey McGuire, Ellen Barkin and Chris Noth, among others.
FRIDAY, APRIL 8
Living with Fran (The WB, 8:30 p.m. ET)
Series Premiere. Fran Drescher returns to series television as Fran Reeves, a hot-blooded divorcee living with her much-younger
boyfriend and her neurotic son, who is only a few years younger than his mom's new man. Ryan McPartlin of "Passions" co-stars as Riley, the hunky beau. It's Fran Friday on The WB: Drescher and McPartlin appear as
Fran and Riley in a new episode of "What I Like About You" at 8 p.m. ET, while a second episode of "Living with Fran" featuring Marilu Henner and John Schneider as Riley's parents is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET.
Kim Possible Movie: So the Drama (Disney Channel, 8 p.m. ET)
Premiere. Ten-year-old aspiring television critic Maya Motavalli tells me fans won't want to miss this feature-length animated
movie because something happens at the end that fans of the "Kim Possible" series have been waiting to see. It happens
after Erik, a new kid at school, takes Kim to the prom, stirring feelings of jealousy in her long-time friend Ron Stoppable. Meanwhile, the evil Dr. Drakken hatches another plot to take over the world and kidnaps
Kim's dad as part of his plan. Maya also says it is important to note that two songs by Jesse McCartney are featured in the movie: "Why Don't You Kiss Her?" and "Get Your Shine On." Of further note: This is the
first animated Disney Channel original movie.
