Byron (BBC America, 9 p.m. ET) U.S. Premiere. Jonny Lee Miller stars in this lavish biographical drama as the influential 19th century British poet Lord George Gordon Byron, remembered as much for his brief, hedonistic lifestyle and stature as the toast of London society as for his epic works, which include Childe Harolde's Pilgrimage. Vanessa Redgrave co-stars.

My First Place (HGTV, 9 p.m. ET) Series Premiere. There are few things more stressful than the purchase of one's first home. Jill Cordes hosts this new reality series that chronicles the thrills, spills, challenges and conquests of several first time homeowners, each assisted by a local designer from their region who is given $3000 with which to decorate the new dwellings.

Wanted: Big & Rich -- Alive in Deadwood (CMT, 10 p.m. ET) Premiere. Even though the wild western Deadwood is currently off HBO's schedule it's a big month on cable for the title town. The Travel Channel's Anthony Bourdain recently took his viewers on a tour of the real-life town of Deadwood, South Dakota, on his show, No Reservations. In this CMT special Big Kenny and John Rich, the MuzikMafia duo who refer to Deadwood as their adopted hometown, travel there as well to explore the region. They also perform a free concert featuring songs from their upcoming album Comin' to Your City. Big & Rich credit the history of Deadwood, once the home of Wild Bill Hickok and Calamity Jane, as the inspiration for much of their music. Their MuzikMafia buddy Cowboy Troy also performs.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 23

Prison Break Marathon (FX, 12 p.m. ET) FX will run the first seven episodes of Fox' fall hit Prison Break beginning at noon today. Prison Break has been on baseball hiatus but returns tomorrow night with a new episode.

60 Minutes (CBS, 7 p.m. ET) Michael Jordan talks with Ed Bradley about his gambling issues, his business projects, the murder of his father and his ongoing quest for privacy.

The West Wing (NBC, 8 p.m. ET) One major storyline in NBC's fading political drama -- which should be moved to another night, pronto -- has been building since last May. Tonight it finally explodes as President Bartlet learns that Toby is the "leak."

Nick News Adventure: The Great Wave Train (Nickelodeon, 8:30 p.m. ET) Premiere. Journalist and host Linda Ellerbee takes six kids on a rafting and camping expedition down the Colorado River and through the Grand Canyon, covering 226 miles in eight days.

Breaking Bonaduce (VH1, 10 p.m. ET) Television's most unsettling reality series continues as Danny endures a difficult few weeks of rehab, periodically throwing tantrums at first, then slowly adjusting to his new environment -- until his long-suffering wife Gretchen is brought in for a couples exercise and Bonaduce blows up once again.

Footballer$ Wives (BBC America, 10 p.m. ET) Season Finale. Frank continues with his vengeful plan to destroy Tanya, Kyle and Chardonnay deal with their baby's medical issues and Tanya and Jason's ceremony to renew their marriage vows ends in disaster as the second season of this always sexy and ever-surprising serial comes to a close.

Mile High (BBC America, 11 p.m. ET) U.S. Series Premiere. The premiere of this raucous adult soap opera about six sexy flight attendants (three female, three male) who share wild times while traveling features more explicit nudity than any scripted program in the history of basic cable. And there's even more sex and skin in next week's episode. But you should watch this show for the comic characters and the frequently funny, fast-moving storylines. Seriously. Mile High will move to its regular 10 p.m. ET time period next Sunday.

MONDAY, OCTOBER 24

Roush Racing Driver X (Discovery Channel, 8 p.m. ET) Series Premiere. NASCAR team owner Jack Roush has for 20 years hosted the Gong Show, a process he uses to find promising racing recruits. This reality series chronicles his most recent effort -- overseeing 25 young racers as they compete on and off the track for a fully sponsored ride on the Roush Racing team in the 2006 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, one of the most sought-after jobs in racing. Sixteen additional judges assist Roush in deciding which drivers will be eliminated and which will move onward toward the grand prize.

Prison Break (Fox, 9 p.m. ET) The riot is at full boil as a fresh run of original episodes begins. Dominc Purcell and Wentworth Miller star.

Human Trafficking (Lifetime, 9 p.m. ET) Premiere. First of Two Parts. Mira Sorvino, Donald Sutherland and Robert Carlyle star in this adult drama about a growing worldwide disgrace most people don't even realize exists: The international trafficking of women and children as sex slaves, some of them enslaved in America. Sorvino plays a New York City police detective who joins the Department of Homeland Security ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and goes undercover to build a case against a ruthless crime boss who controls a worldwide sex trafficking network. Part Two of Human Trafficking will be telecast Tuesday October 25 at 9 p.m. ET.

Murphy's Law (BBC America, 9 p.m. ET) Season Premiere. Season three of this always complex drama series begins with undercover officer Murphy immersing himself in his most challenging case yet -- posing as an assassin to infiltrate the largest criminal organization in London and become a key confidant of its leader, the ruthless Dave Collard.

Viva Blackpool (BBC America, 10 p.m. ET) U.S. Series Premiere. If you remember the short-lived 1990 Steven Bochco musical drama Cop Rock, please don't hold that experience against Viva Blackpool. This is also a dramatic series in which the characters periodically burst into song and dance, but it's highly entertaining and filled with more energy than almost anything on television. (Unlike Cop Rock, in which the actors sang their own songs, the cast of Blackpool skillfully lip-synchs to popular favorites, but the result is big fun.) David Morrissey (State of Play) plays Ripley Holden, a would-be real estate tycoon working against mounting odds to successfully transform the failing seaside town of Blackpool into a miniature Las Vegas. As the story opens, a dead body is discovered in Holden's newly opened casino, which definitely puts a crimp in his plan. But that's nothing compared to his problems at home, where his wife Natalie falls for the detective assigned to investigate the discovery at Holden's casino.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 25

It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (ABC, 8 p.m. ET) It's hard to believe that next year will mark the 40th anniversary of this beloved Halloween classic.

Gilmore Girls (The WB, 8 p.m. ET) It's still early, but this will likely hold up as one of the more curious guest appearances of the 2005-06 season. Former United States Secretary of State Madeleine Albright shares a scene with Alexis Bledel in this episode, which marks Rory's 21st birthday and continues the getting-tired story of the rift between Rory and her mom.

The Amazing Race (CBS, 9 p.m. ET) The remaining families fly off to Barro Colorado Islanda in Gamboa, Panama, as this series finally returns to what it does best: Setting hyper Americans loose in foreign lands and educating viewers about other cultures as it speeds along. But first the families need to leave New Orleans, which was captured in its full glory by the Amazing camera crew months before Hurricane Katrina devastated the region.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 26

A Cemetery Special (PBS, check local listings) Premiere. Just in time for Halloween -- cemeteries across America from Key West to Alaska are explored in this documentary.

Over There (FX, 10 p.m. ET) Season Finale. FX's well-made drama about American soldiers at war in Iraq and the lives of their loved ones back home in the States concludes its first season.

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27

Smallville (The WB, 8 p.m. ET) Continuing with this series' fanciful interpretation of the classic story of Superman, eager young journalist Chloe in tonight's episode applies for an internship at the Daily Planet. The editor isn't Perry White, however. It's a woman, played by Carrie Fisher, and she isn't exactly warm to young Chloe. Meanwhile, Lana becomes a vampire!

The Notorious B.G. (MTV, 8:30 p.m. ET) Television Premiere. MTV News' Gideon Yago moderates a town-hall style conversation between a studio audience comprised of MTV's young viewers and Microsoft Corp. chairman Bill Gates. Fittingly, this special will be available for viewing on MTV Overdrive (overdrive.mtv.com) for one week before its television premiere. Gates recently embarked on a tour of colleges and universities in the United States and Canada to meet with computer science students and faculty about breakthrough technologies and the opportunities they represent.

Bodies (BBC America, 9 p.m. ET) Sidelined by hospital management, Rob uses the opportunity to familiarize himself with confidential hospital files, while resident Polly is assigned to assist the sinister Hurley in the delivery of a child and fears that he may be about to harm yet another newborn. Bodies remains a high quality but deeply disturbing dramatic series that prompts a sense of dread about flaws in Britain's system of socialized medicine. Even at its worst, life at Chicago's County General was never like this. (See next item.)

ER (NBC, 10 p.m. ET) Ray Liotta recently won an Emmy for his unforgettable work in this episode from last season. It depicts in real time the final 44 minutes in the life of an alcoholic dying of liver failure in the emergency ward at County General and the impact of the experience on Kovac, Abby and Sam.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28

Ed, Edd and Eddy's Boo Haw Haw (Cartoon Network, 7 p.m. ET) Premiere. After watching one too many scary movies, the easily influenced Ed goes trick or treating with pals Edd and Eddy and suffers random bursts of "monster vision," during which he mistakes other costumed kids for real monsters.

A Haunting (Discovery Channel, 8 p.m. ET) Series Premiere. This series claims to present true stories about everyday people confronting paranormal experiences. It's filled with unexplainable events -- much like the addictive A&E series Criss Angel: Mindfreak, the content of which defies logical explanation, but there it is, right on the screen. The Haunting premiere, titled Hell House, is about a family that buys a 19th century farmhouse in rural Connecticut and comes under attack by something. A team of world-renowned psychic investigators is called in to investigate. We're hooked already.

I Shouldn't Be Alive (Discovery Channel, 9 p.m. ET) Series Premiere. The powerful stories of people who survived deadly accidents and other high-risk events are told in this ten-episode series. Some of the subjects are extreme sports enthusiasts who invite misfortune. Others are regular people going about their everyday business who are suddenly caught in frightening ordeals. First up: Shark Survivor, about five people stranded in a life raft without food or water and surrounded by Great White sharks.

Greatest NASCAR (CMT, 9 p.m. ET) Premiere. This is the first in a series of quarterly specials CMT will telecast about different aspects of the phenomenon that is NASCAR. The title is self-explanatory: NASCAR's Most Dramatic Finishes.

Masters of Horror (Showtime, 10 p.m. ET) Series Premiere. Dario Argento, John Carpenter, Larry Cohen, Don Coscarelli, Joe Dante, Mick Garris, Stuart Gordon, Tobe Hooper and John Landis are among the noted horror film directors recruited to create original horror films for this new Showtime anthology series. First up: Coscarelli's Incident On and Off a Mountain Road, about a seemingly defenseless young woman's violent struggle with a deformed and demented serial killer. Bree Turner and Ethan Embry star. Warning: This series is not for sensitive or squeamish viewers!
