1. New coupons now printed from the Internet or sent to mobile phones now contain a great amount of customer information. Their bar codes can include such data as Internet address, Facebook page information and even the search terms the customer used to find the coupon in the first place.

2. When a customer enters a mall to enter a store using the coupon he received to buy something, the marketing agency of the product he may buy can capture the search terms used to research his purchase.

3. Coupons from the Internet grew 263% in 2009 reaching 50 million distributed.

3. Linking Internet behavior i.e. the search terms used with actual in store shopping lets retailers and their suppliers figure out which ad slogans or online product promotions work best.

4. Advertisers can now actually see how long someone waits between searching and shopping, and what offers a shopper will respond to or ignore.

5. RevTrax creates and tracks Web-based coupons for retailers. RevTrax can monitor which image-rich display ads, with coupons worked best and on what site.

6. The new coupon strategy gives advertisers direct feedback on how well their marketing is working. For example, when a shopper prints an online coupon and then goes to the store, the clerk scans it. The bar code information is sent to RevTrax which then analyzes it.

7. RevTrax can identify online shoppers when they are signed into any coupon site such as Ebates or FatWallet or a retailers own site. As coupon companies get this new data about how people are responding, they can create new offers.

8. THE IMPLICATIONS & OPPORTUNITY FOR MAGAZINES: More dollars will flow from traditional media; especially print into these types of below the line efforts. Because advertisers have become ROI obsessed this type of tracking directly to the point of purchase and an actual sale will have great appeal. Magazines should try to hook up with RevTrax linking their databases to coupon distribution with RevTrax through their web sites, cellular efforts and even within the printed magazine and subscription direct mail efforts.
