On June 4 we shared an exclusive sneak-peek into the night’s Can’t Cancel Pride vent, including some behind-the-scenes secrets from my interview with Can’t Cancel Pride’s Jennifer Hageney and Gayle Troberman. While the live event has concluded, the video will remain available to viewers throughout the month of June, in celebration of the entirety of Pride Month and to offer ongoing opportunities to watch and to donate over and over again!

Before I review the highlights of the show below, I have to say that I agree with Jennifer and Gayle -- part of the fun of this event is the dressing up! Put on your best rainbows, set the mood lighting and prepare to dance! While this Pride parade isn’t one requiring travel or finding parking or being surrounded by millions of people, it doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take the opportunity to rainbow it up … you won’t be alone! From co-host Bebe Rexha’s background during her performance to Jojo Siwa’s entire surroundings during hers, you’ll feel amongst friends in your Pride Attire.

And Now, Some Highlights from the Show

Amid the amazingly colorful performers and performances, P!nk delivering a gorgeous stripped down version of “Cover Me In Sunshine.” Although the event is meant for fun and merriment, when P!nk sings, “Tell me that the world's been spinning since the beginning/ And everything will be alright/ Cover me in sunshine” it is a beautiful reminder that Can’t Cancel Pride is on a mission to support LGBT+ organizations that support LGBT+ people all year. This isn’t just a party, it’s a party with a purpose!

This is the first Pride event for Brothers Osborne, known for being at the top of the country charts and for having half of its duo newly out. The bravery and transparency in their performance, knowing how many country music fans need to feel the love, and need to see themselves represented in country music? Priceless!

Leslie Odom Jr. singing “Without You” in honor of those lives stolen in the Pulse Nightclub massacre. I also thought about those lost to HIV/AIDS, those lost to the disparities of COVID-19 and those currently living but not supported by their families. It is impossible to not cry.

The variety of musical genres, identities and ages of the talent involved shows just how widespread the LGBT+ support is. From young Black queer pop star Lil Nas X to Queen Dolly Parton, from child star Jojo Siwa to international superstar Elton John, the support is all-enveloping. It reminds me of how many viewers deeply need to see and feel that affirmation and acceptance.
