How are you doing with your New Year's resolutions?

I once heard a stat that as many as 50% of New Year's resolutions are dropped by the end of February, and that made me a little sad. Is it really that difficult to commit to a set of directives you create for yourself? I know that failure can breed success in the start-up world, but that seems a little extreme to me.

This year I laid out eight resolutions and I aim to see them through. They range from getting back into shape and making myself a little more well balanced this year to trying a new food and exploring a city that I've never seen before. Some are easier to do than others, but I like goals and I love to accomplish things that I lay out for myself. To that end, I wanted to gather together some interesting sites and services that I uncovered that may help you with your resolutions this year. Check out the influentials we found this month by reading below!

This year, I promise to be more creative and explore the under-utilized side of my brain. One way to do so is to play with PIXTON (http://www.pixton.com/); a new comic book creation software I found and really like. Pixton allows you to create characters, move them into poses and add text that expresses what you were looking to say. This comic spoke to me as I stood in the Starbucks trying to get my venti triple frappe mocha whatever

Maybe this year you wanted to get a new job? If so, try a slightly different route with CAREER ELEMENT (https://www.careerelement.com/index/login). Career Element puts agents to work for you to find the right job, at the right salary, in the right market. They say they can help you find your dream job, assuming that your dream job isn't writing a comic book or a monthly digital newsletter about start-ups (those two jobs are taken – sorry).

If your resolution was not to find a job, but to start a new company and pursue an entrepreneurial endeavor, then check out NAPKIN LABS (http://www.napkinlabs.com/). These guys provide a service for finding product validation and research on your ideas. The community can be a resource to help you validate your ideas and pursue your dreams, along the way ensuring your dreams will be a success. You can do it on your own, but why not do it with someone else (that sounded wrong, but just go with it).

If your resolution was to get organized (and for many of you it was), then check out QVIVO (http://www.qvivo.com/beta/). Qvivo allows you to organize and store your digital media in the cloud and access it from anywhere. I know I need this kind of service because I'm getting tired of backing up and copying files to all my different devices. The cloud seems to be the way to go, so lets get to it!

If your resolution had to do with getting shape, then stop reading this newsletter and get to the gym already!!

From the world of iPhone and iPad apps, check out 360 to create 360 degree embedded video and send it to your friends (thanks to Doug Chavez for finding this one). And use TIMELESS REMINDERS to create little daily reminders to relax and de-stress (I need these since many of my resolutions all had to do with reducing stress in my life).

Good luck with your resolutions this year! Stay true and enjoy the time you have on this world. It's the only time you get!
