***For the most part, the judges determining who's nominated for Primetime Emmy Awards this year got it right. MediaBizBloggers colleague Ed Martin elaborates at length in his own column. For me, great to see programs like TempleGrandin, Life, America The Story Of Us, Modern Family and Glee do very well (although in Glee's case, you can make a big argument this phenomenon is not a comedy). Great also to see Michael Slovis' brilliant cinematography on Breaking Bad recognized.

Yet one shattering, mesmerizing, heartbreaking performance didn't get in, namely Khandi Alexander's turn on Treme. Alexander, one of the most criminally underused actresses in TV (re: CSI Miami), nailed arguably the best performance of the year, and a Best Drama actress or supporting actress nomination should have been a slam-dunk, no matter what Tremethoughts the judges retain. We're in outrage city here. Separately, put me in the camp of people believing Tremedeserved a Best Drama nomination.

***If you didn't know, ABC Family is making history this summer for programming the first night of primetime series on any network created and produced by women: Mondays with The Secret Life of the American Teenager (Brenda Hampton); Huge (Winnie Holzman and daughter Savannah Dooley) andMake It Or Break It (Holly Sorenson). Now you do.

Until the next time, stay well and stay tuned.
