Many of you will remember Jeff Anderson, a Principal of Bond & Pecaro, one of MFM’s longtime sponsors. We’re saddened to share the news that he passed away late last year.

Bond & Pecaro has been a supporter of MFM since 1986, when the firm was founded. “I’m sure Jeff was present at the dinner we hosted at the MFM Annual Conference in 1987,” noted John Sanders. “Although Jeff was not one of B&P’s official MFM members, he spoke on financial and valuations issues at MFM conferences, was a regular at the conference dinners and had strong relationships with many financial executives who are part of MFM.”

“Jeff was not only thoughtful and analytical, but he was also a great person and formed close bonds with many of our clients. Jeff was always innovating and looking for new and better ways of doing things,” added B&P Founder Tim Pecaro. “Jeff had qualities that you may not always associate with someone who loved numbers and spreadsheets. He was funny, outgoing, energetic, and as committed to exercise as anyone I knew. But most of all, Jeff was a great friend to everyone. I worked with him for 37 years and can only recall him getting angry once, and it was well deserved.

“When we found out Jeff was ill, none of us could believe it. Jeff had retired in 2021 to pursue his passion for outdoor sports and volunteering, but had kept up with everyone. He spent his retirement helping disabled persons learn to ski, volunteering at a COVID clinic, maintaining hiking trails, birdwatching for the Audubon Society Great Annual Backyard Bird Count, mentoring others in financial literacy, and being a wildlife steward. He lived a full life but died too soon and we all miss him immensely,” Pecaro said.

Please join us in mourning Jeff’s passing. His obituary is below.

Jeff Anderson, Veteran Broadcast Financial Consultant, Dies at 64

Jeffrey Pierce Anderson, a Principal with the Washington, DC consulting firm Bond & Pecaro Inc., died on December 11, 2023, surrounded by his family, after a sudden but courageous battle with an aggressive form of cancer. He was 64.

Anderson began his media career in 1984 when he joined the firm of Frazier, Gross & Kadlec, Inc. as an intern. In 1986, he joined Bond & Pecaro, Inc. where he rose to become a principal in the firm and completed valuation engagements for over 3,000 media and communications businesses before his retirement in 2021. He developed a specialty in the valuation of digital businesses and spoke on financial and valuation issues related to the technology industry for the Media Financial Management Association, Netpreneur.org, and the Strategic Research Institute. His commentaries on Internet valuation issues appeared in the trade press including the Washington Post, Mergers & Acquisitions, Washington Techway, CFO Magazine, American Venture, and the Washington Business Journal.

Jeff was an accomplished long-distance runner, triathlete, cyclist, and surfer. His passion for, focus on, and success in those activities were an apt metaphor for his professional and personal life. He consistently inspired his colleagues at Bond & Pecaro by developing innovative ways to address complex problems, and always with infectious good humor.

Jeff graduated from William & Mary in 1981 and received his MBA from the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business in 1985.

He is survived by his wife Lynn and their three children – daughter Carsen and her husband Cole, son Michael, and daughter Reilly.
