The new year is well underway, and with it, MFM continues its ambitious schedule of Town Hall webinars and Member Network meetings designed to benefit a wide variety of financial managers. At the same time, plans for the Annual Conference in May are gathering considerable momentum, with registration now open.

There are two webinars and five Network meetings in February. The first Town Hall webinar of the month, "Music Licensing Update for Radio and TV Broadcasters," takes place February 15 at 1 PM CT. It will feature Janet McHugh, from the Television Music License Committee, and Bill Velez, from the Radio Music License Committee. McHugh will share updates related to the music that TV stations are allowed to use in their broadcasts, and how to avoid the pitfalls of copyright infringement and higher fees. Velez will apprise attendees on what radio broadcasters need to know about their licenses with four performance rights organizations: ASCAP, BMI, GMR and SESAC.

The following Wednesday, February 22, also at 1 PM CT, two experts from Lowenstein Sandler will present "The Road Ahead: Where Is Bankruptcy Headed in 2023 and Beyond?" It's quite timely, as more Chapter 11 filings appear to be a very real possibility in the face of the current economic challenges. Bruce Nathan and Andrew Behlmann, of Lowenstein Sandler, will discuss how bankruptcy filing procedures need to -- and can -- become more efficient, with certain trends gaining popularity. Among them are prepackaged, prearranged, sale and small business procedures. Nathan and Behlmann will also present a case study on a recent high-profile Chapter 11 case.

You can learn more about all of MFM's upcoming webinars here.

Five Networks calls will take place between February 13 and 23: the Tax Advisory, Television, Games, Membership, and Newspaper Networks. The calls are open to all MFM and BCCA members, and they should be considered "must attend" by all those who have joined (or are interested in joining) a specific Network. See MFM's calendar of events for more details on how to participate.

What's considered the preeminent event of the year for media and entertainment finance professionals is coming up in just a couple of months: MFM's Annual Conference, taking place May 22-24 in Los Angeles. It will serve as a one-stop shop for industry finance pros to efficiently and effectively gather tools to move their companies and their careers forward in the face of the current economic climate. As always, a lot of networking and fun activities will be woven throughout the event. Register now and be sure to make your travel and hotel arrangements!
