SATURDAY, AUGUST 2

Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal (Lifetime, 9 p.m. ET)
Premiere. A bold teacher risks her career and reputation in order to bring justice to a high school community. The captain of the cheerleading squad, Brooke Tippit, is also the principal’s daughter. Brooke’s circle of friends, known as the “Fab Five,” are always goofing off without consequence from the school’s administration until Emma Carr, a new teacher and cheerleading coach is hired. The girls’ high jinx escalate from skipping class to posting racy photos on the Internet. Frustrated by her inability to discipline the girls, Emma turns to Principal Tippit for help but instead receives a request for a resignation. Emma then turns to the media to expose the injustices within the faculty as well as the behavior of the “Fab Five.” Based on a true story. Tatum O’Neal stars.

Murder 101: Locked Room Mystery (Hallmark Channel, 9 p.m. ET)
Premiere. Samuel, a yoga teacher, locks himself in his studio with four students only to be found later, dead, while his students were in deep meditation. Professor Maxwell must solve the mystery with the help of his colleagues. Charles Shaughnessy (The Nanny) and Dick Van Dyke (The Dick Van Dyke Show, Diagnosis: Murder) star.

 

SUNDAY, AUGUST 3

Design Star (HGTV, 9 p.m. ET)
Season Finale. It’s down to two designers, Matt Locke and Jennifer Bertrand, and one will be crowned this year’s design star and win his or her very own HGTV series. The nine finalists will be reunited with host Clive Pearse and judges Vern Yip (HGTV’s Deserving Design), Cynthia Rowley (home and fashion designer) and Martha McCully (InStyleMagazine).

LA Hardhats (National Geographic Channel, 9 p.m. ET)
Series Premiere. Two episodes will be featured in this two-hour premiere event. In episode 1, a crew of ironworkers is led by first-time foreman Julio Sandoval as they set 7 million pounds of steel rebar over 400 days. The project runs behind schedule and the workers must cope with angry subcontractors as well as design flaws and architectural changes. At 10 p.m., meet the “mud men” who pour and shape concrete under the guidance of the “Prince of Pour,” Lynn Call.

Pam: Girl on the Loose (E!, 10 p.m. ET)
Series Premiere. Pam Anderson not only stars but is also co-director and co-editor of this reality series, which is deeply focused on her work with charitable causes and her devotion to her sons. In the premiere episode, Pam poses in a photo shoot for a museum installation project with famous photographer, David LaChapelle. Pam then boards a private jet to catch the last performance of The Red Piano, a show featuring Elton John and directed by LaChapelle. 

Summer Showdown (HGTV, 10 p.m. ET)
Series Premiere. Keenan Ivory Wayans hosts this four-episode design competition series. HGTV’s best designers and carpenters go head-to-head each week. In the premiere episode, Vern Yip and Cynthia Rowley along with their respective teams of carpenters and assistants compete to make over the ugliest living room in America, as submitted on HGTV.com. Judges include Kim Fields (The Facts of Life, Living Single), interiors design team Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams, Design Star Season 2 contestant "Sparkle" Josh Johnson, Beth Littleford (The Daily Show, Spin City) and Emily Procter (CSI.: Miami).

 

MONDAY, AUGUST 4

Teen Choice Awards (Fox, 8 p.m. ET)
This 10th annual celebration of the hottest teen icons in pop culture will be hosted by teen sensation, Miley Cyrus. Winners from categories such as Choice Male Hottie and Choice Hook-Up will take home a coveted Teen Choice surfboard. Notable nominees include Gossip Girl and its cast with 14 nominations, Chris Brown with nine nominations and Teen Choice veteran, Justin Timberlake, with three nominations. Mariah Carey will perform her new single I’ll Be Lovin’ You Long Time. Other participants include Sophia Bush, Josh Holloway, Ryan Sheckler, Steve Carell, Scarlett Johansson, Zac Efron, Pink, Jaime Pressly, Danica Patrick, Selena Gomez, JoJo, Minka Kelly, Jesse McCartney, Chad Michael Murray, Chace Crawford, Kristen Bell, Drake Bell, Mischa Barton, Brittany Snow and Hayden Panettiere. Telecast from the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City.

Baghdad High (HBO, 9 p.m. ET)
Premiere. Four Iraqi teens are documented as they brave their senior year of high school in a war torn country. Much of the footage comes from the young men themselves, who recorded more than 300 hours of tape. They face the most common of teenage woes against a background of citywide curfews, suicide bombings and kidnappings.

I Want To Work For Diddy (VH1, 9 p.m. ET)
Series Premiere. Thirteen hopefuls duke it out to land a position as Diddy’s assistant. It’s no easy task so the applicants are put through rigorous challenges that will test their every ability to cater to Diddy himself. In tonight’s episode the candidates are divided into to teams, Uptown and Downtown. Their first assignment puts everyone’s multitasking skills to the test as they are challenged to complete as many tasks as they can on Mr. Combs’ exhaustive to-do list in just 24 hours. Because of the importance of the to-do list items, sleep is forbidden. The losing team must face the judges to determine who will be sent home.

 

TUESDAY, AUGUST 5

Smash Lab (Discovery Channel, 10 p.m.)
Season Premiere. The expert team of engineers, scientists and designers returns for a second season of crashes and discoveries on safety solutions. Joining last year’s team are Gadget and Nathaniel Taylor. Gadget is best known for his environmentally friendly designs, including the world’s largest Espresso machine. Nathaniel, a sculptor, created a prototype lab for mechanical and electronic art called RadioRobot. On tonight’s episode, the team is challenged to make a car survive a cliff dive. This season is narrated by Ben Bailey, host of Discovery Channel’s Emmy award-winning game show, Cash Cab.

Million Dollar Listing (Bravo, 11 p.m. ET)
Season Premiere. Three of Los Angeles’ youngest and most aggressive realtors, Josh Flagg, Madison Hildebrand and Chad Rogers, star in this observational reality series about the drama and competition surrounding the sales of multi-million dollar properties is Los Angeles’ hottest neighborhoods.

 

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 6

The Baby Borrowers: Lessons Learned (NBC, 9 p.m. ET)
The teen couples and parents of their borrowed children from the series reunite for the first time since filming ended last summer. The teen couples will share what happened after returning to life as usual after the social experiment concluded. The Today show’s Hoda Kotb hosts an interactive town hall along with Dr. Drew Pinsky to engage guests in a debate about the issue of teen pregnancy. Viewers can simultaneously text in their own comments.

Project Runway (Bravo, 9 p.m. ET)
The designers go on a field trip to get inspired by the world’s largest sporting competition. Guest judge is speed skating champion, Apolo Anton Ohno.

Hard Knocks (HBO, 10 p.m. ET)
Season Premiere. This season of the first professional sports-based reality series will follow the Dallas Cowboys as they prepare for the 2008 NFL season. Second-year head coach Wade Phillips, football veterans, free agents and rookies endure training camp and the preseason.

Real Vice Cops Uncut (Spike, 10 p.m. ET)
Series Premiere. This thrilling series follows real vice squads from Memphis, Las Vegas, Miami, Detroit, Atlanta, Dallas and Orlando as they plan and execute strategies to arrest hard criminals.

Mythbusters (Discovery Channel, 9 p.m. ET)
Season Premiere. This popular series returns to explore both common and odd myths using science and creativity to put them to the test. On tonight’s episode, the team experiments with explosives as a meat tenderizer. They also test whether angry driving affects a car’s fuel emission

Taboo (National Geographic Channel, 9 p.m. ET)
Season Premiere. This investigative series returns for a fifth season of exploration into some of the world’s most dangerous, bizarre and disturbing rituals and traditions. Each hour-long episode will take on a particular theme with perspectives from a variety of cultures. Tonight’s premiere episode will focus on rituals surrounding the dead. A second episode airing at 10 p.m. ET focuses on children and their participation in cultural traditions, which may be viewed as too mature and disturbing by some.

 

THURSDAY, AUGUST 7

Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog (hulu.com)
In case you missed the premiere last month, all three parts of this insanely popular Internet musical are now available on Hulu. Written and directed by Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly), Dr. Horrible stars Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother), Felicia Day (Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Web series The Guild) and Nathan Fillion (Desperate Housewives).

Last Comic Standing (NBC, 8 p.m. ET)
Season Finale. Before the Last Comic Standing is revealed, viewers will enjoy stand up performances by Jon Lovitz, last season’s winner Jon Reep and special appearances by Gilbert Gottfried, Penn and Tell and Joel McHale and this season’s top 12 finalists. Bill Bellamy hosts.

 

FRIDAY, AUGUST 8

Puppy Games (Animal Planet, 6 p.m. ET)
Premiere. Fans of Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl and animal lovers alike will adore the K-9 version of the Summer Games. Dozens of puppies will compete in events such as swimming, boxing, gymnastics and soccer during this three-hour event. A second version of the games will be telecast during the closing ceremonies of the Summer Games on August 23rd.

Olympic Games: Opening Ceremony (NBC, 7:30 p.m. ET)
Live. The long awaited Summer Games are here. A cast of 10,000 performers will be kicking off the XXIX Olympiad from Beijing’s National Stadium. The ceremony will also feature the parade of nations and the lighting of the Olympic cauldron.
