October Road is coming back and we've got some scoop about the second season! Josh Appelbaum, executive producer of October Road, spilled the beans on our favorite characters and what we can expect next season.

Who Is Sam's Father?

We won't find out Sam's paternity in the first thirteen episodes, but Appelbaum said they want people to know sooner than later. "At the end of the [premiere], in the final line of the [premiere], there's a huge revelation pertaining to this which will kind of inform... and create a new dynamic to the whole gestalt, so to speak."

So even though we won't get a straight answer yet, Appelbaum said, "We're not wanting to piss the audience off. There will be a myriad of revelations that will inform ten years ago and what's going on and Hannah's perspective on it."

"The whole thing heats up in a big way and now they're [the cast] are really killing us to find out what goes on. There are things that lead toward Gavin and things that lean toward Nick," Appelbaum explained.

Gavin Goddard

We won't be seeing much, if any, of Gavin Goddard this season. "Gavin Goddard (Reed Diamond) happens to be on a show [Journeyman] that happens to be on in the same timeslot [as October Road, if it gets the Monday at 10 p.m. timeslot]."

Appelbaum added, "We don't really need him. He's very much a presence in the show in terms of being spoken about."

Does that mean that Goddard and Hannah aren't together if he's not there? Or maybe he's not Sam's father? Appelbaum won't give anything away. "He's a traveling salesman," is all he'd divulge.

Nick and Hannah

After the Silence of the Lambsscene (see below), Nick declared his love for Hannah and she never responded. Well, by the end of the first two episodes, we'll get her response. "You might not necessarily like her response," Appelbaum said. "It depends who you're rooting for."

The Silence of the Lambs Scene

Remember when Nick went running through Knights Ridge and we weren't sure if he was going to end up at Aubrey or Hannah's house? And the suspense was building and finally we found out that he was headed to Hannah's to share his feelings for her? Well the executive producers of October Roadjokinglyreferred to that as the Silence of the Lambssequence, based on the scene from that movie that tricks the audience into thinking Clarice is running into one guy's house when she's really running into another.

Needless to say, when Bryan Greenberg (Nick) saw he had a scene called Silence of the Lambs, he was a bit worried that his character was going to turn into a murderer.

Nick and Aubrey

"Aubrey is not in the premiere, but she does come back in the second episode. It turns out she didn't go to Berkley, but where she did go and what she did do in that time will kind of surprise people to some extent," Appelbaum said.

Owen and Alison

When last season ended, Owen found out that not only had his wife been cheating on him, but she'd been cheating on him with his best friend Ikey. Will Owen and Alison ever reconcile? "It's going to be a long process. It's certainly not going to be that he comes back and everything will be settled by any means," Appelbaum said.

In fact, when Owen does come back (he left to go to his brother's), things will be pretty tough for him. "In episode three he'll be picturing all these things Ikey and Alison may have been doing together."

Owen will even say something like, "Every time I look at a cloud all I can see is Ikey and Alison having sex together."

So, naturally, Physical Phil brings up the "Infidelity Tour."

It's decided that Nick has to interview Alison and Ikey and get all the details of their affair. And then Nick must take Owen on an "Infidelity Tour," bringing him to each place something happened and tell Owen the details, so that his imagination can no longer run wild.

That's when it gets really juicy. Appelbaum explained, "What's awesome about it too in that same episode, because they're going through all these places in Knight's Ridge... Nick is also remembering things in flashbacks ten years ago. Nick and Hannah when they first met as little kids, when they started to date as teenagers... Love in blossom is played up against love in decline."

If you think that sounds good, you're right. Appelbaum declared, "It's the best episode we've ever done."

Janet and Eddie

"That relationship will move forward, but not without its hiccups," Appelbaum said. And one aspect of the Janet/Eddie relationship is sure to lead to some fun scenes: "Some point early on in the season they break it to their friends and kind of go public with it," which will spark "fun and anxiety and conflict and some warm moments."

Unfortunately, later on in the season, someone from Eddie's past will come to town and "big insecurities are brought up in Janet, and how everyone reacts to it is wildly unexpected."

More so, "In another sneak preview of things to come, in a later episode we'll see Janet and Eddie onscreen having sex for the first time."

"Janet will be insecure about her appearance and what Eddie will think of her, and for Eddie, every time he slept with a girl he lost interest five seconds later." Appelbaum said it's a great scene that starts off very poignant and ends with them having a blast.

He also joked that Geoff Stults, who plays Eddie, was very happy he could finally take his shirt off for a scene.

Nick and Eddie

Will they ever be best friends again? "The first episode is simply about Nick and Eddie joined on this mission to get Owen," Appelbaum said of the second season premiere, aptly titled "Let's Get Owen."

On their trip to bring Owen home, "We'll see Eddie and Nick's old loft and be meeting some of Nick's old friends."

It will be them "ultimately trying to cajole Owen to come home, all the while working out their [Nick and Eddie's] own sh*t."

Ikey and The Guys

Now that everyone knows that Ikey cheated with Owen's wife, their relationship is "very fractured for a good long while... and eventually Ikey will go over to the dark side, so to speak." Does the Dark Side mean befriending Ray Cataldo, aka Big Cat? Probably. So sad!

"There's a very dramatic event later in the season involving one of the buddies. Ikey's going to need to choose which side he's going to go on." Will it be good or bad? Read on...

Air Guitar Scenes

With Ikey gone, "The band is broken up... They do have this thing that is especially hysterical. They don't have a drummer in the band now that Ikey's not in it, so they hold auditions for a drummer..." Apparently the new guy is pretty dopey and will make for some good laughs.

But the important part is this: "We consciously do not want to have a full on jamming scene until Ikey's back in the band," Appelbaum said. And when it does happen? "It's a f*cking awesome moment."

That means that Owen and the guys will find a way to forgive Ikey, and as Appelbaum said, they'll blast out a great rendition of REO Speedwagon's Roll with the Changes on their air instruments.

Physical Phil and Pizza Girl

"He will, sooner than later, actually get out of the house in an unexpected way. Not in the way you think..."

Leaving the house won't be Physical Phil's only storyline. "Truth be told, we want to tell other stories," which makes sense, so that Phil won't be one-dimensional.

Although, Phil's parents will come for a visit and "we realize he's been lying to his folks all these years. They really think he's been a traveling architect," Appelbaum divulged. Whoops! That's only the complete opposite of what Physical Phil really does. Either way, Pizza Girl catches him in the lie to his parents... and that is bound to cause drama!

Possible Upcoming Episode

"If we can get it done in time, we're toying around with doing a Stand By Me episode... with little Nick, little Owen, little Eddie, little Physical Phil going on an adventure... to try and find a girl they were all in love with when they were ten-years-old..."

In the present day, the guys find out that this girl, named Angela Moretti, was killed in a car accident. According to Appelbaum, they've all spent their lives searching for their Angela Moretti, but they've found it in different loves.

Season Two

"There are more twists and turns than all of last season... Stick with us... Some people are going to love some of the developments, and it's going to drive some people crazy," Appelbaum said of the new season.

So get ready for a great season two of October Road, premiering Thursday, November 22 at 10 p.m. following Grey's Anatomy. The following week it will move to its regular time slot on Monday, November 26 at 10 p.m. And, if you haven't caught up, season one comes out on DVD October 30th. It's time to go home again to Knights Ridge!
