Pai + Trump = Quick Re-nomination as FCC Chair

By all accounts, Ajit Pai is a nice guy with a mission: Deregulate at will! He’s earned keeping that position for the Tweeter-in-Chief.

And soon it’ll be a three-to-one commission. At least I’m betting so … make sure nothing gets investigated at all.

But he sure has been doing things!  As Bloomberg reported: “Pai has already suspended a requirement that Internet service providers safeguard customers’ data and moved to ease broadband construction mandates imposed when the agency approved Charter Communications Inc.’s acquisition of Time Warner Cable Inc. last year.

“He also closed inquiries opened by Democrats into whether free wireless data plans from AT&T Inc., Verizon Communications Inc. and T-Mobile U.S. Inc. violate open-Internet rules by favoring mobile providers’ affiliates.”

Great for the short run.  Good for the U.S.A.?

Ajit Pai is loosening data privacy regulations so that your ISP can track your habits just like those big edge companies (otherwise known as Google, FaceBook, et al).

It is now the existential question everyone will have to answer: How private do I want to remain?
