Pandora and Vevo are the surprising top performers among 80 websites/online sales organizations in the new Jack Myers Survey of Advertising Executives on Online Media Value and Sales Organization Performance. Based on advertiser and agency executives’ ratings of each site/organization in five evaluation categories, Pandora and Vevo topped perennial industry leaders Weather.com and Nickelodeon with an average 68% of respondents rating the music sites 4/5 on a five point scale for the five categories evaluated in the Myers survey. Pandora and Vevo tied for first rank followed by Nickelodeon Online Sales, Weather.com, Hulu, IGN Entertainment, WSJ.com, ESPN.com, NYTimes.com, Google, Turner/SI.com and CNN/Money.

Pandora’s and Vevo’s strengths were heavily weighted by positive ratings among the New York City media community while CNN Digital and Weather .com dominated outside the NYC marketplace. Vevo was ranked 1st and Pandora 4th by executives working at digital media agencies. WSJ.com was ranked as the market leader by executives at full service media agencies. Advertisers ranked Google first and CBS Interactive second. There are significant differences in perceptions among those with less than and more than eight years working in the media/advertising business. Among the younger executive group, IGN Entertainment catapulted to the highest ranking, while WSJ .com performed best among those with more than eight years of experience. Pandora and NYTimes .com rank second respectively among the two groups.

CNN/Money was highest ranked among respondents who target affluent demographics and Weather.com was the leader among respondents targeting business-to-business audiences. NBC-TV Entertainment (NBC .com, Bravo, USA and Syfy) ranked 20th among total respondents, but also captured highest honors among respondents who target female demographics.
