1. Recent visits to major retail chains across the country that had self check-out --- the self-check-outs all had people standing by them to help shoppers understand how to use them. Rather than speed up the process it seemed to slow it down. Confusion seemed rampant.

2. In many cases self check-out counters were just bypassed even when a clerk stood nearby.

3. While direct deposit without a teller can work in a bank as can cash withdrawals ---shoppers seem to always have a question or two to ask about pricing or an item when checking out. Unless self check-out can be voice activated to answer questions the potential may be limited.
