1. Mobile phone advertising will boom as retailers and their suppliers use it to strategically target consumers as they come within range of their stores. Special contests, coupons and promotions will make mobile a major data acquirer of e-mail addresses, demos and shopping patterns.

2. Sarah Palin will have her own TV and radio talk shows, eclipsing Glen Beck in popularity and ratings. Palin will be smart enough not to discourage major advertising sponsorships by going safe instead of rogue.

3. Product placement advertising rates for placement within movies and TV shows could double. Every major new movie release is now besieged by inquiries from competing companies.

4. Rupert Murdoch will boldly and effectively create major paradigm shifts within his company, uniting all global and corporate business units. While others have attempted this i.e. AOL Time Warner, Rupert will succeed and get a major leg up on competitors because he is "the boss" and will impose what he wishes. Those who stand in his way or react territorially will be let go. Look for Lachlan Murdoch to rejoin News Corp. in a major way once this happens, and Roger Ailes to resign...

5. Tiger Woods will retire from golf and go into seclusion.

6. Several major magazine publishers will quit the Magazine Publishers of America Association, realizing that the current association, while a good idea decades ago, no longer serves a true business function.

7. Traditional advertising budgets will continue to lose more shares to below the line efforts. Public relations budgets will see major increases as brand equity becomes increasingly important in a commodity price driven economy.

8. A major upscale department store chain will go out of business. Major contenders are Neiman Marcus and Saks. Reason: currently there are too many upscale department stores as a result of overbuilding and a decade of conspicuous consumption that is no longer in vogue.

9. U.S. News will cease publication. Within three years the print editions of Time and Newsweek will become just Web sites.

10. Sadly, our increased efforts in Afghanistan will be unsuccessful. Jobless rates will remain high as government programs to date have been ineffective. Banks will continue to hurt small businesses by refusing to lend them needed capital. Obama's approval rating will sink to an all-time low as he continues to try to do too many things at once rather than managing the country on a triage basis.
