Google was once again named the top digital media company in a survey of 600 advertiser and agency executives who evaluated 71 general market and entertainment legacy media and digital native organizations on four measurement criteria. Forbes topped the rankings among legacy media companies, followed closely by Hearst Magazines and Wall St. Journal. (Sports media, specialty TV networks such as MTV and Discovery and radio companies such as Clear Channel are being evaluated in a separate study being conducted by MyersBizNet.) Other leaders among digital native companies include Amazon, Tremor Video, Apple iAds, Facebook, AOL and Blip.tv, which was recently acquired by Maker Studios. Early stage online network Martini Media ranked second overall in the survey behind Google, although the company was rated by significantly fewer respondents. Respondents were required to have business relationships with companies they rated. Listed below are the top 30 digital media organizations as rated by Madison Avenue executives among the 71 companies measured in the survey.

Premium and Platinum Members of MyersBizNet are receiving the full detailed reports, which offer rich insights into the advertising value and competitive resources of the 71 companies. By reviewing the details on different respondent groups and the variety of categories evaluated by their clients, they can identify their organization's key strengths and growth opportunities.

There are significant nuances in the detailed results from the survey.

· For example, Blip.tv ranks first overall when based on respondents from digital advertising agencies.

· BlogHer, 33Across and iVillage also perform exceptionally well among this important respondent group.

· Specific Media, which acquired MySpace and received investments from Justin Timberlake, ranked fifth overall among respondents who have been in the advertising business for fewer than eight years.

· IGN, the gaming site, performs extremely well among New York City based respondents but under-performs among respondents outside the New York market.

· CNET achieved high ratings overall among respondents targeting male respondents, compared to iVillage, which performs well among those targeting females.

· IAC Advertising Solutions is a strong performer among male respondents. impreMedia, the Hispanic media outlet, outperforms all other companies among female respondents.

The four evaluation criteria on which overall performance ratings were based are:

  • Value for the Investment;
  • Innovation and Market Leadership;
  • Premium Content and Audience Quality;
  • Quality Sales Team and Customer Service.
  • Thirty-one of the companies were also evaluated based on Audience Reach.
