Vevo became a new Internet destination for music videos and performance programming in 2009. Two years ago, company management made the call to switch platforms. Out with the Web, in with a dedicated YouTube channel and carriage on smart TV sets and connected devices. Watch the conversation above or below.
When Vevo returns next Tuesday afternoon to the ranks of Digital Content NewFront presenting ventures, it will do so inviting advertisers to reach out among its one billion viewers worldwide each month. Kevin McGurn, Vevo's president of sales and distribution, will be a key speaker at that event. In a special pre-NewFront engagement, McGurn joined MediaVillage's Jack Myers as part of his Leadership Conversation..
Kevin McGurn will address the impact of smart TV distribution on the service. Smart set/device viewership increased 40 percent in 2018 and 2019, and so far this year, is up 30 percent. "That's big, and (a) developing story as we enter the upfront," McGurn adds.
