YouTube has released the top ads that people in the U.S. chose to watch on its platform in 2019. The YouTube Ads Leaderboard showcases the most creative ads that viewers choose to watch. Ads are selected by an algorithm that factors in organic and paid views, watch time, and audience retention (how much of a video people watched).
Looking at top ads on YouTube from January 1, 2019, to December 1, 2019, we saw:
·Tech brands make a big splash. Amazon took first place with an Alexa ad (as it did last year) and Apple wasn’t far behind with a video introducing iPhone 11.
·The Super Bowl momentum continued. Six of the top 10 ads watched on YouTube originated as Super Bowl TV ads. This means that marketers extended the return on investment of those ads as viewers continued to watch them for the rest of the year.
·Celebrities were still the ultimate attention grabber. More than 16 million people watched as Chance the Rapper and Backstreet Boys performed in the Doritos ad, Sarah Jessica Parker changed up her drink order for Stella Artois, and athletes such as Serena Williams showed what happens when women Dream Crazier in a Nike ad.
·2019 Year-End Stats: The total watch time for all videos on the list is approximately 275 million minutes, and the total number of views is 230 million.
