In our updated 2000–2025 Marketing & Advertising Data and Forecast, The Myers Report projects 4.8 percent growth in 2020 advertising investments, with digital spending equaling legacy/linear for the first time. The Myers Report data reflects $3 billion of Coronavirus-based adjustments.
The Myers Report's original 2020 forecast had projected 2020 ad spending at 6.2 percent growth. With total 2020 advertising investments at an estimated $224.9 billion, Myers forecasts digital media will capture $112.5 billion (as legacy/linear media declines 0.5 percent to $112.4 billion), a decline from 52.7 percent in 2019 and 72.4 percent in 2015. Digital advertising is projected to grow 10.8 percent over 2019. The Myers Report data incorporates political and Olympic spending and recognizes potential Coronavirus-related losses.
