NBC’s summer hit America’s Got Talent has offered up countless impressive acts during its decade-long run … but there was one on the show Tuesday night that in my opinion topped them all.  In fact, it was so amazing that it doesn’t seem adequate to qualify it against other AGT acts only, so let me say this: It was one of the most incredible things I have ever seen on television – and, in part, on Instagram – period.  My neighbors and I were as slack-jawed as judges Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel, and host Nick Cannon, at the end of the segment.

Currently in its quarter-final rounds, during which home viewers choose the top 24 acts from among the hundreds that have been jockeying for recognition throughout the summer, AGT on Tuesday brought back several promising performers from recent weeks gone by, each one hoping to move forward to the finals.  (AGT, incidentally, is still serving summer-long sponsor Dunkin' Donuts extraordinarily well.  Just look at how those DD cups glow in the photo below of Nick Cannon with singer Alicia Michilli, another performer on Tuesday night's show.  Year to date it's the most effective DVR-proof product placement of 2015, as noted in my column of June 23.)

One of the returning performers was Oz (pronounced OHze) Pearlman (pictured at top), a former finance expert who is now nurturing his passion for performing as a mentalist.

From what I saw, the show should simply give him the million-dollar grand prize right now and call it a season.

For anyone who didn’t see it, there’s no point in spoiling any of the fun of Pearlman’s performance, except to note that it seemed pretty routine at first (the judges were asked to guess the number of gumballs in a jar) but swiftly became an act unlike any I have seen before – one that swept up Howard, Howie and Mel B in interesting ways and, for anyone who was watching live, pulled in the home audience via Instagram, as well. All of a sudden there was more going on than anyone could have imagined.

The video below presents the act in its entirety. Prepare to have your mind blown over and over again. (If you like, watch the video at the very bottom of this column, which claims to reveal exactly how Pearlman accomplished the seemingly impossible. Technology plays a big role in it.)

Pearlman was pretty impressive during his last appearance on AGT, too.

And the time before that.

But Monday night?  I’m still blown away ... even after watching the spoiler video below.  Pearlman is clearly a master showman with expert timing and could easily fill a theater in Las Vegas.
