BMW Sold About 90,000 Cars in CBS Television Markets

According to a recent article in The Wall Street Journal, BMW AG's Chinese joint venture will recall more than 140,000 cars because of defective plugs in the electric power steering system that could pose safety hazards, China's quality regulator said Monday.

In 2012, BMW sold approximately 90,000 units in CBS Television Stations' markets from about 420 dealers. This doesn't mean that consumers bought cars because they watched CBS Television Stations it just means they live in markets were the broadcast group operates. CBS Television Stations own and operate 29 television stations in 17 markets reaching approximately 75 million households.

The average age of a car or truck in the U.S. is at an all-time high of 11.2 years, according to research firm Polk. Though the increased reliability of vehicles is a major consideration, the trend also confirms that there is still plenty of pent-up demand ready to be unleashed for Ford, General Motors, Toyota, and Chrysler especially with new models boasting fuel economy significantly better than what most drivers are realizing with their current cars and trucks.

Sinclair Broadcast Group own and operate 119 TV stations that have a footprint over more markets that contain more Ford and Toyota dealers than any other broadcast group.

Ford Motor Co. recently announced that it will offer the 2014 F-150 truck with the ability to run on compressed natural gas, making it the only manufacturer with an available CNG/LPG-capable half-ton pickup.

In 2012 Ford reported the average cars sold per dealership was 682. The Minneapolis TV market out-performed all other TV markets in terms of units sold.

MarketWatch reported that after the completion of a successful three-year partnership with theIndianapolis Colts, Toyota has signed a new, five-year deal with the NFL franchise.
