For more than three decades, The Myers Report has been studying best practices and principles for organizational change and transformation. The media industry, where I've spent my career, is at the epicenter of change. But all the research I've conducted with more than 300 companies and thousands of executives has pointed to the same reality: Most companies, even digital ones, and their workers remain locked into legacy business models and traditional relationships. Few businesses are prepared for the generational, regulatory, and technological headwinds confronting them right now.

So, how can you prepare as you look at your own future and the opportunities you're considering? MediaVillage has partnered with Giide, an app-based audio learning resource, to launch a new series of interactive audio guides focused on knowledge insights and career guidance. Our first "Giides" have been created by Intel and National Public Media. My first Giide offers five questions you can ask for navigating your career decisions as we move through this next decade and provides detailed insights to power your responses and future career decisions. (Download from Apple or Google Play for the full interactive audio experience, which includes additional resources, such as activities, links, and notes.)

My Five Questions

The five questions are the same no matter what stage of life and career you're in. Technology is the great leveler. Experience is no longer a proxy for knowledge and knowledge is no longer a requirement for responsibility. Download the Giide app and visit the MediaVillage channel, where I'll share insights and resources to help guide you to your answers as you navigate to the next stage of your career.

One, is this a company where I'll be engaged and interested in the work I'm doing?

Two, is the company structured to offer me a range of experiences, as well as experience?

Three, what are the company's values and ideals?

Four, how important are education and learning to the company?

And five, when I look around the company, do most people look like me, or is there a diverse and inclusive workforce?

Remember, in the new workforce, experience is no longer a proxy for knowledge and knowledge is no longer a requirement for responsibility. Whatever career stage you're in, asking these five key questions will help guide you on a path to success, happiness, and growth.

MediaVillage will be launching new audio Giides regularly. We look forward to partnering with our member companies to develop Giides supporting their educational, learning, and talent development goals.
