Paris Hilton at Comic-Con?

In yet another sign that this massive annual mish-mash of fan-boys and fan-babes, nerds, geeks, artists, A-list celebrities and studio executives has become the biggest event of the year in entertainment, Paris made her Comic-Con debut the other day at a panel for the upcoming futuristic musical thriller Repo! The Genetic Opera. Her appearance was one of the few well-kept secrets here at the Con – so secret, in fact, that the press didn't know about it.

The even bigger secret of the day was a party that night in a private room at San Diego hotspot Stingeree for Paris and the creative team from the movie, including producer and director Darren Lynn Bousman. A glowing Paris seemed genuinely enthusiastic about Repo!, in which she portrays the daughter of an organ donor titan and sings a number of songs. Involuntary organ donation is a key component of this tuneful gore-fest, which makes Bousman, the director of the two most recent Saw movies and the upcoming fourth entry in the series, the perfect man for this job. Lionsgate, the distributor of the movie, has been handing out CDs of the movie's soundtrack at its booth, but I have yet to snag a copy, as the mob there is usually 50 geeks deep, and they can't get enough of Paris. People just adore her. One young woman at the Stingeree party proudly showed off a new tattoo of Paris' face on her leg. Ms. Hilton was properly impressed.

I had a chance to ask Paris about her upcoming MTV reality series, Paris Hilton's My BFF, in which young people compete to become one of her nearest and dearest.

"Did you actually find a new best friend by the time it was over?" I asked of the production.

>"I'm not saying," Paris teased.

"Why didn't MTV promote the show at the Television Critics Tour two weeks ago?" I asked, expressing my disappointment that Paris didn't appear at TCA.

"It wasn't ready yet," she replied. "But it's going to be great."

"If it's a success will you film another season?" I asked.

"Yes!" she beamed. "I can have BFF's all over the world!"

Paris Hilton's My BFF debuts in September. Repo! The Genetic Opera has its premiere on November 6.
