Rakuten Joins the Ad Platform Game

Japanese e-commerce and online retailing company, Rakuten, has announced its newest venture into the world of advertising. This B2B2C giant plans to use its marketing technology, digital data, and global media portfolio to offer brands the opportunity to connect with its consumers.

Its new ad platform, Rakuten Advertising, is designed to help improve the brand awareness and marketing performance of the advertisers that choose to invest in its services. Rakuten Advertising comprises Rakuten Marketing's affiliate network, its programmatic retargeting and prospecting technology, and consumer insights from Rakuten Intelligence. It also includes access to Rakuten's global media properties such as Rakuten TV.

In a release about the new platform, Rakuten Americas CEO Amit Patel emphasized the importance of brands building new and enduring connections with consumers. Patel went on to say that, in such a competitive marketplace, Rakuten Advertising plans to use all its assets to help its advertiser clients stand out from the crowd. "By drawing on audiences, insights, and the well-established performance marketing excellence of the Rakuten ecosystem," he said in a statement," Rakuten Advertising will be an unmatchable partner for digital marketers aiming to surpass their business goals."

The platform also offers users the opportunity to tap into its global performance marketing network. Spanning over 200 countries and regions globally, and having been named "Best Affiliate Network" nine years running by the IPMAs and mThink, this global advertising titan could make waves in the U.S.

Rakuten Advertising CEO Nick Stamos emphasized the company's commitment to building new relationships for their clients at a time when it can be tough to get consumers' attention. "Over the years, we have continuously sought to find the best way to service our clients with unmatched results," he said in a statement. "This is yet another demonstration of our ongoing commitment and focus. Together, we create the right conditions to reach and engage new customers and sustain long-lasting loyalty."
