But when it comes to personal finance, a surprising majority of Americans are actually feeling optimistic, according to new research from Hearst Magazines. A solid majority -- 68 percent -- of Americans across all generations feel better off financially today than two years ago. In fact, about 34 percent plan on increasing their spending in the near future!
