Tim Castree sat for an interview with Michael Farmer on June 4, 2019, at a “pre-Cannes” rooftop celebration for members of the press and senior executives at GroupM’s headquarters at 3 World Trade Center. He outlined GroupM North America’s strategic priorities for the coming years. Castree (pictured above) has had a multi-faceted senior executive career with creative agencies (head of Account Management at BBH New York, Managing Partner at George Patterson Partners in Sydney and CEO of Leo Burnett Australia) and at media agencies (COO Mediavest USA, CEO Wavemaker and CEO GroupM North America).
Amazon confirmed their plans to acquire what was left of the Sizmek asset after Zeta Global bought the DSP and DMP earlier this year. The acquisition is a clear shot to the bow of Google and Facebook that we will soon see a Global Triopoly comprised of those plus Amazon. Amazon has been making significant progress with their growing OTT and TV business, so adding ad server and dynamic creative solutions are natural additions to their stack.
The road to Cannes is paved with many changes this year. You can certainly expect to see and hear a fair amount from companies developing next-generation media, marketing and advertising solutions, underpinned with blockchain and cryptography. Solutions are scaling; we are past the point of test and learn.
