Curious Insight: Tom is an avid traveler whose passport has been stamped all over the globe, including the UK, Australia, France, Italy, The Netherlands, Poland, The Czech Republic, Japan and China. His travels, along with his wife (who hails from China), have enlightened him in many ways.
Surprising Result: He has learned that there are many ways to approach life and that being open-minded and curious and avoiding presumption will result in better experiences in life as well as business. Tom believes we should all be comfortable thinking differently more often that not, and be open to new ideas--because good things will surely follow.
Tom currently directs media planning activity on Verizon, leading the national media charge on that enormous business and establishing a leadership position for UM in relation to that client's other agency partners.
With 16-years (and counting) at UM, Tom has been afforded the opportunity to have worked on a broad array of top echelon businesses, including such global packaged goods marketers such as Nestlé, Unilever, and L’Oréal USA, as well as retail giants such as McDonald’s and Boston Market. Tom also held a global director role for ExxonMobil's business, helping to shape their media and Marcom efforts in more than 50 markets worldwide via UM-proprietary marketing mix applications and tools.
In addition, Tom has also worked on tech/electronics accounts such as Microsoft's Xbox, Avaya and Motorola. He also directed all of Gateway’s media activity for several years, including consumer, business and retail. During that period, Tom provided much strategic support to UM’s offices in Australia, Japan and Western Europe.
