Jackson Merritt has been writing about culture and counter-culture for nearly four decades. He was co-founder of the Syracuse New Times, editor of teen music tabloid Tambourine, and the original music editor for Head Magazine, a cultural guide for pot smoking non-radicals. He has been a cultural consultant and behind-the-scenes advisor to entertainment companies, leading marketers and universities.
Jackson has been an outspoken advocate in Washington for increased media commitment to children's educational programming and for an improved media content ratings system.
Although Jackson retired several years ago, he continues to write on the role and influence of media in our culture and society. Jackson can be contacted at jacksonmerritt@ymail.com
