In two weeks, ABC’s owned television stations unit will join the growing parade of individual broadcast stations and station groups operating linear programming services available to audiences through multicast channels and/or smart TV sets and devices. Localish is the venture with which ABC’s eight owned stations will go linear as of February 17, more than 17 months after its introduction as a digital content service. Using reports from ABC stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Houston, Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina and Fresno, California, the service calls national attention to local developments, landmarks or culture of a positive nature.
