Here’s my curated list of recommended TED and TED U Talks from this year’s TED 2011: The Rediscovery of Wonder www.ted.com. Most of these talks have not yet been posted, but will be in the next several weeks. We will add links here. Depending on your personal passions and interests, there may be several TED Talks that you will value, but that I’ve not included. Best to check out the full program at www.ted.com and be your own curator.

TED Talk by Ford Motor Company Chairman Bill Ford, who focused on his lifelong passion for the environment, but who failed to demonstrate Ford’s understanding of the need for improved public transportation. I hope TED curators package this Talk with Cindy Gallop’s eloquent reply.

TED Talk by Pepsico CEO Indra Noohi, who was praised for her company’s commitment to the Pepsi Refresh campaign, but who missed the point of TED by ignoring her company’s response to the environmental impact of plastics and the contribution of sugar drinks to obesity. WINNER: MOST RELEVANT TED TALK FOR MARKETING COMMUNITY. But watch Morgan’s video first.

TED Talk by Kate Hartman. FUNNIEST AND CUTEST. In a conference hall generally devoid of laughter and glee.

TED Talk by musician Jason Mraz, whose song You Fuckin’ Did It could become a hit.

TED Talk by General (ret.) Stanley McChrystal; impressive. TED’s audiences in Long Beach need to keep in mind that TED Talks are now broadcast to the world and have a long shelf life. Controversial issues are likely to be avoided. TED’s audiences are friendly and welcoming to widely diverse points-of-view.
