Harriett Levin Balkind is the founder of HonestAds.org, a nonpartisan organization that “lifts the veil” on political advertising and promotes political literacy. She was a partner at the communications agency Frankfurt Balkind for more than 25 years. HonestAds.org has been featured in political, advertising, art, and news media as well as in MoMA’s experimental online “Design and Violence” exhibit. Most recently, Harriett guest curated “I Approve this Message” at The Toledo Museum of Art; has been on the panel of The American Press Institute’s “Fact-checking Summit;” and was a speaker on political persuasive techniques at The Ecology of Care Conference in Copenhagen.
