PHD
Mike Cooper started working in advertising at Saatchi & Saatchi in London in 1984. He joined the media department and was transferred to the Hong Kong office as media director in 1989 and the following year he became regional media director. In 1991 he was appointed CEO for Saatchi in Hong Kong and in 1993 was put in charge of North Asia. He then moved to CNBC Asia in 1995, in charge of sales, distribution and marketing before joining Omnicom as CEO for OMD Asia Pacific in 1997.
Mike was the driving force behind OMD's expansion in the region, which grew to 26 offices and became the number two media specialist in Asia Pacific as well as one of the most awarded media agencies in APAC, including Media Magazine's 'Media Agency of the Year' four times in nine years. In 2002 Mike was also put in charge of setting up OMD's Global Account Management program.
In 2005 he launched PHD – another Omnicom-owned global media network - across the Asia Pacific region and a year later was awarded ' Regional Agency Head of the Year for Asia' by Media Magazine. In 2007 he became CEO of PHD Worldwide, responsible for growing the network, which today has over 76 offices in 66 countries worldwide, serviced by over 2000 staff and counts HP, Unilever, Elizabeth Arden, GSK, Gap, Canon, Bentley, Porsche, Hyatt, Starbucks and Mondelez as clients.
Today PHD is one of the world's fastest growing and most awarded media agencies, having beennamed 'Media Agency of the Year' nine times in 2010 for its strong performance in a number of markets including Australia (Campaign Asia), Canada (Strategy magazine), China (Campaign Asia), New Zealand (Caanz), the USA (Delaney Report) as well as across the Asia Pacific region for the second year running by Campaign Asia magazine. In the UK PHD has held the coveted 'Media Agency of the Year' award for the past two years with Campaign and Marketing magazine and in 2011 it did the triple, after winning the same accolade with Media Week.
In 2013, PHD picked up a gold, a silver and 5 bronze awards at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.
In December 2012 PHD WW was made Adweek's Media Network of the Year.
